Environmental Policies

As we embark on the thrilling journey of mountaineering, trekking, skiing, and rock climbing, it is crucial to acknowledge that our actions have the potential to disrupt the delicate balance of nature in forests, mountains, glaciers and other natural habitats. But with conscious efforts and sustainable practices, we can minimize the impact and safeguard the biodiversity while relishing in the adventure.

At Wanderin' Man Adventures, we are a group of ardent enthusiasts who are dedicated to preserving the ecological harmony of all the natural habitats we encounter, be it in the Himalayas, Nilgiris, Aravalis or any other regions. We are deeply rooted in the mountains, with an innate reverence for their splendor. Our team, comprising of employees and guides, fully comprehend the significance of human impact on the environment, and are devoted to not just safeguarding but also conserving the ecosystems we come in contact with.

As a responsible community of adventure enthusiasts, we are committed to minimizing our impact on the natural world. To achieve this, we have established a comprehensive policy that we are fully dedicated to implementing. The policy encompasses two main aspects: the first is the proactive approach of preventing any further damage to the ecosystem through the stringent adherence to a “leave no trace” principle. The second aspect is the initiation of new and innovative measures to conserve and enhance the ecosystem. Our unwavering commitment to the environment is reflected in our constant vigilance in evaluating the impact of our actions on the natural habitats around us.

Ecosystems are intricate web of interactions between various living and non-living entities that includes humans, animals, birds, geographical features, and vegetation. Although it is not within our realm of influence to alter the behavior of these stakeholders, we can certainly focus on preserving and conserving the geographical features such as mountains, trails, rivers, water bodies, grasslands, trees, camping sites, snow-capped regions, and peaks. Our policy thus, is a testament to our dedication to safeguard these invaluable natural assets for the generations to come.

The Wanderin' Man leaves no trace:

1. Not a Flock of Sheep

The beauty of the natural world is something to be cherished and protected. In areas such as the Himalayas, where the allure of spectacular vistas attracts many visitors, it is particularly important to tread lightly. To this end, we at The Wanderin' Man Adventures take a principle-driven approach to responsible tourism.

Foremost among our commitments is the avoidance of over-crowding. By limiting the human footprint in any given area, we pave the way for Mother Nature to rejuvenate and flourish. We accomplish this through two key strategies:

First, we keep our groups small, with a maximum of 18-20 people per batch. This not only reduces the amount of waste generated, but also enables us to manage it more efficiently. By adhering to these principles, we hope to help preserve the natural wonders of the world for generations to come.

2. Keeping cleanliness intact

Managing waste efficiently and effectively is essential in order to maintain a healthy ecosystem. Our team manages three types of waste: biodegradable organic waste, toilet waste, and non-biodegradable waste.

3. Keeping the water clean

At The Wanderin’ Man, we prioritize the preservation of natural water sources in our camping organization. Our staff and campers are informed on the importance of keeping water sources free from contamination. To achieve this goal, we implement the following measures:

We are committed to continuously improving our practices and welcome feedback and suggestions. Please email us at info@wanderinman.com, pr wanderinman@gmail.com with your thoughts.

Some moves to make the environment better

How can we improve?

During our treks and expeditions, we frequently encounter litter, particularly plastic waste, which is deeply concerning. To reduce waste in all areas we visit, we have launched the following initiatives:

Join us in Remove Plastic Movement

Wanderin' Man Adventures has initiated the largest plastic waste collection challenge. All those who sign up with us will have the opportunity to participate and compete to collect the most non-biodegradable waste. Prizes will be awarded to the top collectors:

Part 1: "Get.Set.Clean" Award - Groups who collectively deposit more than 500 grams of non-biodegradable waste during any of our treks & expeditions, will qualify for a "Get.Set.Clean" award, which is a WMA voucher worth INR 300 per participant.

Part 2: "Recycle Gurus" Award - We keep a record of the plastic waste collected by each group and at the end of each month, the group that has deposited the most plastic waste will receive the "Recycle Gurus" award, a WMA voucher worth INR 1000 per participant.

This contest is applicable for all our treks & expeditions that are two days or longer and follows the standard itinerary published on our website.
