Itinerary Description
Introduction
If you want to debut into the world of mountain trekking, there could not be a better start than the Dayara Bugyal trek. It is located in the Garhwal region of the Himalayas and is known for its beautiful meadows, called "bugyals" in the local language. The vast expanse of snow makes it a favorite trek among experienced trekkers. A white sheen covers the meadows in winter, and powdery snow falls from the trees as they shake. If you think Christmas lasts only a month, you should venture out on the Dayara trails. It’s Christmas throughout the winter season.
The views of Mt. Banderpoonch, Gangotri 1, 2, and 3, and Jaonli peaks keep you accompanied throughout the trail. Enjoy camping under the stars and connect with nature. The trek passes through mountain villages, giving you a taste of the local culture and lifestyle. Did we mention there is a lake on this trek too? It is a complete package!
Best Time To Visit
The best part about Dayara Bugyal Trek is that it is open throughout the year, except for the monsoons. Each season has magical views and unique experiences up its sleeves.
Winter: Most people prefer trekking to Dayara Bugyal Top in the winter season to witness the magical snow. The view at the top is simply magnificent. If you are lucky, you will get to experience snowfall too. Enjoy making snow angels and a friendly snowball fight with your friends. However, a thick bed of snow does add a bit of a challenge to the trail.
Spring: The spring season gives you a beautiful contrast of greenery and snow. From March-April, you can expect snow in the upper regions while the lower valley begins to thaw and tiny flowers spring out.
Summer: May-June is the most convenient time for first-time trekkers. There are no challenges like snow-covered trails and freezing low temperatures. However, it can be hot and hazy on the trail.
Autumn: September-October is the best time to witness the clear, blue skies and cherish the gigantic views of Mt. Banderpoonch, Gangotri 1,2, and 3. The air gets crisp and chilly. Make sure you wear appropriate layers to keep yourself warm.
Difficulty Level
Dayara Bugyal Trek is one of the best warm-up treks for beginners and new-timers before they step into the trekking world. There are no tricky parts on this trek, which makes it suitable for beginners. However, snow and steep sections could be a little challenging.
