Itinerary Description
Introduction:
Baraadsar is the least trodden trek in Himayan ranges. Probably, many of you might have heard this for the first time too. Baraadsar lake trek is done in Uttrakhand. The base is sankri village. There are many other famous treks that share the same base. Such as Har ki dun, rupin pass etc. The view is an absolute delight as it is on the edge of Himachal and Uttarakhand. Undoubtedly, you get to see magnificent views of the Gharwal Himalayan peaks. And a well build physical endurance is needed.
Interestingly Baraadsar lake is known as “the wish-fulfilling lake”. Definitely quite mysterious as well as sacred in this region. Baraadsar lake is at an altitude of 4600 M. After crossing miles of land you will get to see the cleanest turquoise water lake. The trail is filled with spectacular meadows, pine forests, and picturesque Himalayan views. Especially, the moment to behold is when you cross the ridge which separates the Rupin and Supin passes. Just mesmerizing.
Best Time to Trek
Well, the Baraadsar lake trek shouldn’t be taken easy. It is indeed a challenging trek and requires previous experiences in treks too. Especially, when it comes to weather. The best time to do the Baraadsar lake trek is from June to September. During this time of year, only snow is moderate and it doesn’t make it extremely difficult to climb. This offbeat trail is accessible only for a few months. Such as Pre-monsoon like May to June and post-monsoon September and October. Basically, summer and autumn, seasons are the most recommended time to go on a trek to Baraadsar lake trek.
Difficulty Level:
The Baraadsar lake trek is moderate overall. But it does have some difficult patches. The trail is quite exhilarating. Initially, it starts with a little steep ascent. But gradually as the ascension continues to increase the altitude increases too. This trek does the prior experience of a 4000 m trek. Especially, while crossing the ridge and the massive clearings. The views are unobstructed and alluring for sure. But the trek in some parts is quite challenging.

Drive Sankri (1,920 mts) to Jakhol (2,200M) 18 km (2 to 3 hours) and trek to Barthatra thatch (2,510 mts) 3 km (3 hours)
Barthatra Thatch (2,510 mts) to Dhaldhar Meadows (3,630mts) 5 km (5 hours)
Dhaldhar Meadows (3,630 mts) to Devbasa (3,738 mts) 6 km (5 hours)
Devbasa (3,738 mts) to Baraadsar Lake and Summit (4,600 mts) and back to Devbasa (3,738 mts) 8 km (10 hours)
Devbasa (3,738 mts) to Vasaped (3,070 mts) 11 km (7 hours)
Vasaped (3,070 mts) to Bhitri (2,360 mts) via Saru Taal 8 km (5 hours)

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
Dehradun (640 mts) to Sankri (1,920 mts) 185 km (8 to 9 hours)
The highlight of the day: Sankri village.
On day 1, you have to reach Dehradun and take a ride to Sankri. Dehradun to sankri is is almost 8-9 hours of the scenic drive. And we highly recommend you leave early. So that you can reach early to sankri, and give some rest to bodies for the next day's trek. Also, another reason is the roads are quite unpredictable. And it's always better to reach before it gets dark. The drive is quite amazing and you can make a couple of stops to try out some local food. Make sure to reach sankri by 7 pm maximum. Overnight stay at sankri.
Day 2
Drive Sankri (1,920 mts) to Jakhol (2,200M) 18 km (2 to 3 hours) and trek to Barthatra thatch (2,510 mts) 3 km (3 hours)
The highlight of the day: Barthatra thatch campsite
Trek: On day 2, we will start with a drive from Sankri to Jakhlol which is approximately 3 hours of drive. It is a very old yet beautiful village. It has traditional homes which are drafted from pines. This village is quite ancient and has some spectacular natural setups. You start off by exploring the colorful culture and make your way toward the trail. Today, there is no steep ascends. And the highlight of the day is the Barthatra campsite. Basically, the campsite is surrounded by meadows and oak trees. And between it is a small lake where you can sit and relax by for the day. Overnight stay at Barthatra camp.
Day 3
Barthatra Thatch (2,510 mts) to Dhaldhar Meadows (3,630mts) 5 km (5 hours)
The highlight of the day: Ridge before the campsite.
Trek: On day 3, we will begin in the early morning. In Today’s trek there will be a continuous ascent of 800 M. as we cross the campsite past 2kms you will witness the supin river. The entire trail is through the border of Uttrakhand and Himachal. There will be uphill climbing today and while crossing the ridge we again have 750 M of elevation. After the ridge be careful as there is a lot of moss on the trail which makes it slippery. Right after crossing the ridge, you have the entire meadow for yourself. Overnight stay at Daldhar meadows.
Day 4
Dhaldhar Meadows (3,630 mts) to Devbasa (3,738 mts) 6 km (5 hours)
The highlight of the day: The challenging yet exceptional walk on the ridge.
Trek: On day 4, will be starting with the narrow path covered in thick forest. Today there will be a lot of ridge crossing. We will be beginning only 100 M elevation day, so the trail is manageable. These narrow trails lead to Baradaasar lake. The landscape changes dramatically as the whole valley gives you the biggest unfolding surprise of rupin and supin valley views, together. After that, you reach Devabasa you can take a rest for the day and prepare for the main trek tomorrow. Overnight stay at the camp.
Day 5
Devbasa (3,738 mts) to Baraadsar Lake and Summit (4,600 mts) and back to Devbasa (3,738 mts) 8 km (10 hours)
The highlight of the day: Baraadar lake and summit
Trek: Today will be the climax of the trek. We will start in the early morning as it is going to be a long day. Today there will be 900 M ascent. On the way to the lake, the trail gets really steep which is thrilling. Once you cross the trail, you will see the most glorious Baraadsar lake. It is true that the hardest climb offers the best view. You can relax by the lake for a while. After soaking in all the freshness, we will move back towards our campsite, Devabasa. Overnight stay at camp.
Day 6
Devbasa (3,738 mts) to Vasaped (3,070 mts) 11 km (7 hours)
The highlight of the day: The high point in the valley is called Vijay top.
Trek: Today is going to be the longest trail day. But at every step, it is a different landscape as the route keeps changing. Eventually, we will have a gradual ascent and we will reach Vijay's top. This is the highest standing point in the valley with some astonishing refreshing views. From there the downhill will begin from the tree line. A little steep ascent, but it is all worth it. It is manageable. After that, you will reach Vasaped and overnight stay at Vasaped.
Day 7
Vasaped (3,070 mts) to Bhitri (2,360 mts) via Saru Taal 8 km (5 hours)
The highlight of the day: Final surprise at Saru tal.
Trek: Our 7th day will be a bit relaxed today. As the trail is easy and continues through oaks and pines. You get more chances to explore the flora and fauna as well. The landscape changes and you will be surrounded by habituation. It is surrounded by tiny hamlets. We will keep heading towards our final destination Saru lake. Saru lakes greet us with all smiles and help us to relax. Overnight stay at Bhitri homestay.
Day 8
Bhitri (2,360 mts) to Dehradun (640 mts) 200 km (8 to 9 hours)
The highlight of the day: You can explore Dehradun
Today is when we will be driving back to Dehradun. We will leave early in the morning so that we can reach Dehradun as early as possible. Once we reach Dehradun you can either depart for your respective cities or explore Dehradun according to your choice.
