We highly suggest you reach Manali a day before to acclimatize. Start your day 1, early in the morning around 4 am for Kaza. it will be a long drive today. We recommend you reach Kaza by 4 pm Maximum. The major highlight will be, you will cross the Rohtang pass and Kunzum La. And the drive is really beautiful along with River Spiti. Once you reach Kaza you can rest and take a stroll in the market. You must also relish some local Tibetan food. Overnight stay at Kaza.
Visiting Ki gompa, and exploring Chicham village. Today and tomorrow are for acclimatization. We will walk through the villages, and explore key monasteries. After the monastery visits, we will move forward to Chicham village which is 18kms drive. Overnight stay at Chicham village.
Explore Chicham village and acclimatize. Today as well we will spend acclimatizing ourselves properly. Acclimatization is very necessary. Inadequate acclimatization can cause altitude illness. Today, you can spend time exploring and out of Chicham village. Take a walk and also do a little warm-up. Rest for the day and prepare for the next day. Overnight stay at Chicham village.
Today the trek starts on a well-constructed metallic road with zero ascents. After 45 mins of walking, you could see the Dumla campsite on the right-hand side. The Dumla campsite is spectacular as the streams flow and water the agricultural fields. Once you reach Dumla, the real challenge starts. For the next 3 hours, there will be a steep ascent, as you witness the mountains of Spiti valley. Also, you need to be careful because of loose soil and gravel in Thama due to vegetation. While we continue on the steep ascent for 2-3 hours, we enter Thaltak and are welcomed by the view of the majestic Kanamo peak. The total ascent for today will be 636 M and a descent of 144 M. Overnight stay at camps.
Today, the trail begins with deep gorges. The whole trail has loose rocks and gravel everywhere. It’s a prominent rockfall zone. After a continuous descent, we will come across the gushing Rong Nala after an hour. The follows upstream and the river is on the right-hand side. Then you will come across the very demanding ascent as you reach Jukta. You have to continuously climb the barren and rocky terrain you will reach Borochin. Borochin campsite on the foothills of Parang La. the area is completely devoid of vegetation at the altitude of 5100 M. Overnight stay at Borochin.
Today will be quite challenging day of the trek as the climb gets steep through moraines from the beginning. It requires very stable physical fitness. After a steep climb of 1.5 hours, we will reach Thakchu campsite. From here it takes almost 4-5 hours for parang La. Parang La trek proves that the best view comes after the hardest climb. After 5 hours of difficult climbing, you will be welcomed with the most astonishing views of Spiti and Chanthang valley from Parang la. You will also get a glimpse of the Parilungi peak. After crossing the pass, you will descend toward parang La glacier. The glacier has deep crevasses which take around 2 hours to cross. Then you will reach Lakku campsite. And after 1.5 hours Kharsa Yongma campsite. Total ascent for the day is 548 M and descent is 750 M. overnight stay at camp.
Today after breakfast we will leave for kapapuche from Kharsa Yongma. The river bed of Datang Nala gives you the immense freedom to make a choice of yours. After 3 hours of walking on a vast river bed and crossing multiple streams, we will cross the campsite of Datang Yongma. And after an hour Datang Kongma. Total ascent for today is 290 M and descent 396 M.
Today’s trail is similar to yesterday’s trail with little slight changes. Today the trail is on the riverbed of Pare River. You will be crossing multiple streams once you cross Falangbado Nala you will come across, the Phalum Phada campsite. The campsite has a unique natural structure which huge rock structures and shallow caves. Then you will come across the Racholamo campsite. And overnight stay.
Today’s trail is along with the Parechu river. Today there will be traversing in the strong current of the Parechu river where the water level raises to the waist too. Today we will be crossing this river by making a human chain so that nobody is left. Then we will reach Norbu Sumdo which is the gateway to Ladakh. It is on the border of Ladakh and Spiti. From here you onwards you will encounter vegetation, mammals, black wolf, marmot, etc. There you reach Chumik Shinde. This campsite has a lot of spring water sources, which makes it really green.
Today the trail is easy. And after covering the trail for a couple of hours you will get a glimpse of the majestic Mentok peaks. This trail takes us to the southernmost top of Tso Moriri (Tso means Lake). Overnight stay at Kiangdom, this place is known for wild asses.
The highlight of the day: views of Chamsher Kangri peak and Lungser Kangri Peak. Trek: Today the trek goes along with Tso Moriri. The backdrop for today's trail is just amazing with Chamsher kangri peak and Lungser Kangri Peak. The trail to Karzok village is the only last ascent. Today the ascent is 266 M and the descent is 179 M. overnight stay at Karzok.
Today we will leave in the morning towards Leh. It will take 6-7 hours to drive. You have the freedom to either board vehicle yourself or ask our representative to arrange the travel and accommodation in Leh at some additional cost.
