About

Introduction Ali and Bedni Bugyal is a brilliant alternative until the ban on the Roopkund trek stay. The trek is the truncated version of Roopkund Trek, giving you plenty of time to savor the undulating beauty of the country?s most beautiful meadows - Ali and Bedni Bugyal. On the Roopkund trek, the meadows have to share the limelight with the mysterious lake. However, on this trek, they remain the main attraction. The meadows are like the most beautiful park one can imagine at an altitude of 3,500 meters. Ali Bedni Bugyal trek is less challenging than the Roopkund trek, thus deeming it fit for first-timers. Best Time to Trek The best time to go on the Ali Bedni Bugyal trek is May-June and September-October. The trail remains closed during the rest of the months due to snowfall and monsoon season. Summer: May-June is the perfect time if you wish to see the meadows blooming in green and yellow. The snow melts away, and the tiny flowers burst out of the ground giving you a red-carpet welcome. Autumn: September-October is the time with clear skies. You get the perfect panoramas from the ridge, not a cloud obstructing the views. The landscape changes from lush green to autumn red. Difficulty Level In comparison to the Roopkund trek, the Ali Bedni Bugyal trek is much easier. Nevertheless, it has some steep sections and long walks that first-timers may find tiring and challenging. Good stamina and prior experience will help you keep up with others and enjoy views instead of stopping ever so often to catch your breath.
Assemble outside Haldwani bus stand or outside Kathgodam Railway Station to board transportation to Lohajung, a quiet town ahead of Almora and Kausani. Expect to reach Lohajung by supper time.
Trail: the trail begins from the remote village of Wan, followed by the stream of Neer Ganga. The trail climbs up to Didina, a remote Himalayan village. Our campsite lies. Campsite: The campsite of Tolpani is surrounded by lofty trees and faces towards the picturesque mountains. Wake up to the scenic views and the sound of birds chirping. Thrilling point: From Didina, one can see the tip of the ridge which is Ali Bugyal.
Trail: It is a steady climb to Ali Bugyal and will take about 3-4 hours to get there. Once you reach Ali Bugyal, it is a flat walk on the ridge with mesmerizing views on both sides. After a 45-minute hike, we arrive at Bedni Kund. Campsite: The campsite of Khobal Tal lies amidst the sprawling Bedni Bugyal. Thrilling point: Take a moment to soak in the enchanting beauty of the most beautiful meadow you will ever come across. You can spot a herd of sheep grazing on the grounds. Break a chat with shepherds and learn their stories and vivid experiences in the mountains. Milestone of the day: Catch a break at Bedni Kund - an ancient temple made out of stones. Trekkers stop here to seek the blessings of the mountain gods.
Trail: Enjoy the walk through the vast Bedni Bugyal with revered peaks like Trishul and nada Ghunti in the backdrop. We stop on the trail for lunch before we descend into forests.Campsite: Ghairoli Patal is an open clearing amidst dense, thick forests. Reconnect with nature and its creation.
We retrace our steps to Neer Ganga and Wan village. The cab awaits us at the village to take us to Lohajung. Check into your guest house and freshen up.
We check out of the guest house in Lohajung and drive back to Haldwani. It will be dark by the time we get there. So, you are advised to make your flight or train booking for the day after.
