Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
Briefing in Manali (1980 m) and Cycle practice
Arrive in Manali a day prior before the expedition. Our team leader will brief you about the cycling expedition. Explore Manali on the bike and acclimate to the surroundings.
Day 2
Manali (1980 m) to Marhi (3300 m) 38 km (8 to 9 hours)
Trail: We begin early morning to beat the traffic en route Rohtang Pass. The journey to Marhi encompasses hairpin bends with pine and deodar trees on the way.
Campsite: Stay overnight in comfortable tents at Marhi campsite, a small village settlement before Rohtang Pass.
Day 3
Marhi (3200 m) to Chhatru (3200 m) 50 km (6 to 7 hours)
Trail: Prepare yourself for the 18 km steep ascent to Rohtang Pass. The snow-covered peaks and Spiti Valley will motivate you along the way. From Rohtang Pass, we gradually go downhill on the highway until we arrive at the campsite.
Campsite: The campsite of Chhatru is located amidst the cold desert of Spiti Valley surrounded by rugged mountains.
Day 4
Chhatru (3200 m) to Batal (4095 m) 31 km (5 to 6 hours)
Trail: Due to boulders and gravel on the trail, it will take us longer to reach the milestone from Chhatru to Batal. Starting early is the key. The trail is interrupted by water streams, which may cause bikes to get stuck.
Campsite: Batal is a small settlement in the Lahaul and Spiti Valley surrounded by barren mountains. It is the base camp for the trek to Chandratal Lake.
Day 5
Batal (4095 m) to Chandratal (4300 m) 14 km (4 to 5 hours)
Trail: Today, we tread the path leading to Chaadratal Lake. It is the most strenuous and challenging part of the expedition, yet offering the most exhilarating views.
Campsite: Camping is not allowed by the lake. So, we return to Batal campsite after spending some time by the lake.
Thrilling point: Here’s a fascinating fact about Chandratal lake. The outlet of the lake is visible, but the source is not. It can only mean one thing - the lake is fed by underground water.
Milestone of the day: A sense of calmness and energy will take over your tired soul as you reach ChandraTal lake. Majestic mountains surround the pristine blue lake. The bewildering scenery looks right out of your dreams. Don’t forget to click a picture by the lake.
Day 6
Chandratal (4300 mts) to Manali (1980 mts) 118 km (6 to 7 Hours)
We drive back to Rohtang Pass on a support vehicle. Enjoy the last mile riding downhill from Rohtang Pass and bid adieu to the lofty mountains and lush valleys. Expect to reach Manali by evening. The trip ends here. You can either stay back or book an overnight bus back to Delhi
