Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive at Leh (3,500 mts)

Land at Leh and transfer to your hotel or guest house, keeping the entire day easy to let the body adjust to the sudden altitude gain.

Encourage guests to hydrate well, stay warm, avoid heavy meals and alcohol, and restrict activity to a short evening stroll and a simple trek briefing.

Day 2

Acclimatization at Leh (3,500 mts)

After a relaxed breakfast, plan a gentle half‑day outing within Leh—such as visiting a monastery or a viewpoint—walking slowly with plenty of breaks.

Use the afternoon for a detailed orientation: route overview, expected temperatures, layering system, camera and binocular use, and a safety session on altitude and winter conditions.

Day 3

Leh (3,500 mts) to Rumbak Valley base camp (3,600 mts) 20 km (45 minut )

Drive from Leh towards the Hemis National Park side of Rumbak, covering roughly 20 km in about 45 minutes, following the Indus and then turning into narrower gorges.

A short approach walk or vehicle drop brings the group to the Rumbak base area around 3,600 m, where participants settle into camp or homestay, do a short acclimatization walk, and receive a first introduction to reading tracks and terrain.

Day 4

Tracking and spotting at Tarbung Valley (3,800 mts around )

Start before sunrise, hiking gradually from base camp towards Tarbung Valley, one of the prime early‑phase vantage areas for snow leopard movement.

Spend the full day scanning ridges, cliffs, and side gullies, rotating between viewpoints as local spotters interpret fresh signs such as scrapes, scat, and blue sheep activity, before returning to camp by late afternoon.

Day 5

Tracking and spotting at Husing Point (3,800 mts around )

After an early breakfast, trek towards Husing Point, a natural shoulder that overlooks several meeting valleys and offers wide, overlapping views of likely wildlife corridors.

The group settles into a slow “watch and wait” routine, using scopes and binoculars to monitor distant cliffs and ridgelines for hours, with breaks for hot drinks and packed lunch before descending carefully to camp.

Day 6

Day 6 - Tracking and spotting at Rumbak ( 4,100 mts around)

Today’s objective is a higher viewpoint above Rumbak, usually reached by a steady 3 km walk that takes 1.5–2 hours with scanning stops as altitude increases towards about 4,100 m.

From this elevated perch, spotters can monitor multiple side valleys simultaneously, giving good chances to observe both predator and prey species, as well as high‑altitude raptors, before returning along the same route.

Day 7

Tracking and spotting around Rumbak

Keep this day flexible, using it to revisit whichever zone—Tarbung, Husing, or upper Rumbak—has shown the most recent or promising activity in terms of calls, kills, or tracks.

The pace remains unhurried, balancing long, quiet observation sessions with short exploratory walks and time with local families at the homestay or camp.

Day 8

Tracking and spotting around Rumbak

Use this day for deeper exploration: lesser‑used side ridges, short detours towards nearby villages, or alternative view lines that provide fresh angles on the same core valleys.

This also works as a buffer day for weather or trail flexibility, allowing adjustments if heavy snow, strong winds, or sudden reports from other guide teams suggest shifting the main vantage area.

Day 9

Tracking and spotting around Rumbak  and departure to leh

Dedicate one last full day to focused tracking, returning to whichever location has offered the best sightings or strongest sign patterns across the week.

The team aims to maximize early‑morning and late‑afternoon light for photography, while mid‑day can be used for shorter walks, birding, or simply absorbing the winter landscape of Hemis National Park. and drive back to leh.descending to around 3,500 m

Day 10

Depart from Leh (3,500 mts)

Start with a relaxed breakfast at the hotel to ensure guests are rested before travel. Guests then complete check-out and make sure all important documents and essentials are packed in carry-on bags.

A pre-arranged transfer takes the group to Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, located about 3-4 km from Leh town. Guests should arrive at least 2 hours before flight time to complete check-in, baggage drop, and security procedures smoothly.
