Itinerary Description
One of the best hikes for novices is the Chandrashila climb, which is at an elevation of 12,083 feet and offers breathtaking peak views of the Kedar, Chaukhamba, and Himalayas. You may get a bird's-eye view of the hike by visiting the revered Tugnath temple, which is known for being the tallest Shiva temple in the whole globe. The route to the walk passes via Rishikesh, Sari, and Chopta, and it is lined with vibrant clumps of rhododendron, oak, and pine. You may go bird watching and have picnics by the lake while you're here. Don't miss the captivating sight of the golden-breasted eagles from the peak. As you make your way upward from Haridwar, the route passes via the well-known towns of Har ki Pauri, Chopta, and Sari as well as a large number of little hamlets. View the splendour of Kedar, Chaukhamba, Nanda Devi, Bandarpoonch, as well as the Deoria Tal lake as you travel. You can practise meditation at the well-known Tugnath temple while on the hike. It will take 4 days to go the full 10 KM trip. Among our excursions, the Chandrashila peak offers a view that is unmatched. Perhaps the best mountain vistas of our Indian Himalayas can be seen from the peak. There is so much to take in that you can't possibly take it all in, similar to a large feast. The majority of hikers will never forget the experience.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
Rishikesh (340 mts) to Sari Village (2000 mts) 190 km (7 to 8 hours)
Our journey begins with an early morning departure from Rishikesh, leaving behind the spiritual energy of this holy city as we follow the winding roads that trace the path of the Alaknanda River upstream. The seven to eight hour drive gradually reveals the changing landscape as we transition from the foothills to the high Himalayas, passing through traditional market towns like Devprayag where the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers converge to form the Ganga. We stop for lunch at a local dhaba on the way, sampling authentic Garhwali cuisine that introduces us to the mountain flavors that will sustain us through our travel. The final ascent to Sari Village takes us through increasingly dramatic scenery, with terraced fields stepping down steep hillsides and traditional Garhwali houses built from stone and wood. Upon arrival in Sari, we settle into our guesthouse/homestay and take an acclimatization walk through the village, interacting with locals whose families have inhabited these mountains for generations and learning about their unique way of life that harmonizes with the demanding yet beautiful Himalayan environment.
Day 2
Sari (2000 mts) to Alpine Lake Deoria tal (2400 mts) 3 km (1 to 2 hours)
We wake up to the sounds of the mountain village coming to life; the distant bells of grazing livestock, the morning chatter of villagers beginning their day, and the calls of Himalayan birds in the surrounding forests. After a nourishing breakfast, we begin our trek to Deoriatal, a relatively short but steadily climbing path that winds through dense forests of oak and rhododendron. The trail offers occasional glimpses of the surrounding valleys through breaks in the canopy, building anticipation for the spectacular views that await us at the lake. After approximately two hours of walking, we emerge from the forest to the breathtaking sight of Deoriatal, its calm waters perfectly mirroring the surrounding peaks. We set up camp near the lake shore, giving us ample time to absorb the serene beauty of this special place. As evening approaches, we witness the magical alpenglow as the setting sun paints the peaks of Chaukhamba in shades of orange and pink, their reflections shimmering in the lake's still waters. After a warm dinner prepared by our camp team, we might sit by the lakeside under a canopy of brilliant stars, the mountains standing as silent sentinels in the moonlit night.
Day 3
Deoria Tal (2400 mts) To Tala Village (2000 mts) 10 km (6 to 7 Hours and drive to Baniyakund (2600 mts) 15 km
(45 min)
Morning at Deoriatal offers a spectacle worth waking early for, as the first rays of sunlight illuminate the mountain peaks and their perfect reflections in the lake's glassy surface. After capturing this magical moment, we enjoy breakfast before beginning our descent through forests that feel increasingly enchanted with every step. The trail to Tala Village takes us through varied terrain, including lush meadows, mixed forests, and occasional clearings that offer new perspectives of the Himalayan range we're traversing. We encounter shepherd communities and perhaps spot some of the region's rich birdlife, including the colorful Himalayan monal pheasant. Upon reaching Tala Village, we board waiting vehicles for the scenic 45-minute drive to Baniyakund, a beautiful high-altitude location that serves as our base for tomorrow's summit attempt. The evening at Baniyakund is spent preparing for the challenging day ahead, checking equipment, and enjoying a hearty dinner that will fuel our ascent to Chandrashila. The cooler temperatures at this elevation remind us that we are truly in the high Himalayas now, surrounded by the majestic silence of the mountains.
Day 4
Drive baniyakund (2600 mts) to Chopta (2850 mts) 5 km (10 Min.) and trek to Tungnath (3500 mts) and Chandrashila (3700 mts) and Return chopta (2850 mts) 9 to 10 km (7 to 8 hours both side) and drive to baniyakund (2600 mts) 5 km
We begin this pivotal day with an early start, driving the short distance to Chopta where the trail to Tungnath begins. The initial climb winds through beautiful forests of rhododendron and deodar, with the morning light filtering through the trees and illuminating the path ahead. After approximately three to four hours of steady climbing, we reach Tungnath Temple, the highest Shiva temple in the world, where we take time to absorb the spiritual atmosphere and admire the ancient stone architecture that has withstood Himalayan winters for centuries. Beyond Tungnath lies the final ascent to Chandrashila Summit, a steep but manageable climb that rewards us with one of the most spectacular panoramic views in the Indian Himalayas. From the summit at 3,700 meters, we can see an uninterrupted 360-degree vista of Himalayan giants including Nanda Devi, Trishul, Chaukhamba, and Kedar Dome. After sufficient time to absorb this breathtaking scenery and capture photographs, we begin our careful descent back to Chopta, where vehicles await to return us to Baniyakund. The evening is spent sharing stories of the day's experiences, with the sense of accomplishment tempered by humility in the face of the magnificent mountains we've been privileged to witness.
Day 5
Drive to Rishikesh (340 mts) 210 km (7 to 8 hours)
Our final day begins with a leisurely breakfast, savoring our last moments in the high Himalayas before beginning the long but scenic drive back to Rishikesh. The return journey allows for reflection on the profound experiences of the past days—the mirror-like perfection of Deoriatal at dawn, the spiritual atmosphere of Tungnath Temple, the breathtaking panorama from Chandrashila Summit, and the simple beauty of the Himalayan forests and villages we've passed through. We stop for lunch at a riverside restaurant, watching the powerful Alaknanda River flow toward its confluence with the Ganga. Upon reaching Rishikesh in the late afternoon, we bid farewell to the mountains and to our trekking team, carrying with us not just photographs but lasting memories of a journey that has touched both our hearts and our souls, and perhaps kindled a lifelong love affair with the magnificent Himalayas.
