Itinerary Description
Introduction
Dzo Jongo (East), a mystical peak nestled in the Markha Valley, stands at 6,240M, overshadowed by its renowned neighbors, Kang Yatse I and II. The trek from Leh unveils the awe-inspiring landscapes of Ladakh, gradually revealing the elusive mountain's beauty. From dust storms in the valley to fierce winds at the 5,200M basecamp and snowstorms during the summit push, Dzo Jongo East offers an adventurous journey.
Considered a trekking peak, it presents the perfect blend of challenge with extreme temperatures, demanding determination, and endurance. The reward? A breathtaking 360° panoramic view of the neighboring ranges and the fulfillment of an extraordinary experience worth the anticipation. Dzo Jongo exists, and it awaits intrepid adventurers seeking an unforgettable mountain adventure.
Best Time to Trek
The best time to embark on this trek is in July. Ladakh is one of the rare places in the Himalayas keeping its gate open for trekking and expedition.
Difficulty Level
Dzo Jongo Trek lies somewhere between Markha Valley Trek and the Kang Yatse expedition. Even though it is a trekking peak, it is no less than an expedition in terms of thrill and adventure. Only seasoned trekkers should attempt to climb this peak. If you are a beginner who wants to get a taste of the landscape, Markha Valley would be a more advisable option for you.

The combination of high altitude and icy winter winds adds an intriguing element to the climb.
Milestone of the day: Enduring the frigid darkness of the night, we eagerly await the sunrise, which brings a welcomed sense of warmth and energy. The sunrise views from the top are unimaginable and the highlight of the whole trek.
Campsite: After relishing the views from the summit, we carefully descend the steep slopes before the sun's rays start melting the ice. The descent is expected to take approximately 4 hours. By noon, we reach the base camp, completing this exhilarating journey surrounded by the stunning beauty of the mountains.
